I need to put in some copper pipe up to a bath tap.

I am going to use a compression fitting tap connector.

I note that these are usually left a certain amount of distane between the bottom of the tail of the tap - just so you can do the nut up on the tap connector - does anyone know the exact gap to leave?

Note- I don't want to use a flexi.

It will depend on the tap, the thread on the tap will dictate the distance that will remain, all you need to do is make sure it is tight enough to prevent any leaks.

The only way you will know for sure is to place everything in position, level the bath and temporarily fit the taps. This also will help with the alignment as well as the distance.
