Hi,

After much consternation, I decided to position my PIRs so that they are facing the windows/bifold doors. The thinking here was that, it would deter any intruders that are peaking in and considering an entry.

With the plastering now done (after the cables were positioned as described above), I am now concerned that the PIR's will be generating false alarms by someone walking outside the door or a animal walking across the door on the exterior side.

Is this the case and any advice on the matter will be gratefully received. Thanks

Your external sounder, decoys and any signage should be your deterrent.
Its bad practice to direct motion sensors towards windows. But i wouldn't worry about if its in place.

Thanks for the info.
Finally, would "standard" PIR's suffice for a domestic installation or should I be considering something else? I have currently been quoted for: Pyronix KX15DQ 15m Digital Quad PIR Grade 2

Lots of different pir's on market
Quad logic is standard on a lot of standard pir's
True quad pir's would cost more.
Risco, pyronix, texecom, optex are all ok.Some have longer warranties than others.

would this be okay for the garage or should I get something different? Also, I have a PIR on an external tool shed. Should go standard PIR here too?

I would use dual technology sensors in a garage and a shed.
Using pir could be ok,but the shed will have a greater temperature change.
The difference in cost between a good pir and dual tex is so little i would go with a dual to stop false alarms.

Thanks. Can yu recommend a brand and model of dual. I will purchase all in this if it isn't much more expensive.

May I Add a Question to this thread? It is a PIR location question, so on topic, I'm just not the OP?

Noted. Just my new post will be 'PIR Location', and that is pretty similar to this one. When commencing a new post the entry box responded 'This thread here has similar title'. It is 8 years old though.
