Hi, I have a external porch light switched from inside house. Can I add a pir sensor so at night i can switch light on but it will only switch on when sensor is activated?

why not add a pir and leave it on all the time?

Thanks, I assume i could get a pir with a light sensor so it would only activate from dusk onwards. Appreciate the advice.

you assumed correctly, that is what lighting PIR's do. (not switch the light on in daylight)
its only internal intruder alarm pirs that "work" 24/7
