Hi, i am in the process of fitting new spindles and i thought the pitch of the stair case was 45 degrees but i have just found that the pitch is 50 degrees. Is this normal-the house was built in the 30's?
Thanks for reply big-all. No the stair case is not a space saver. i have checked the angle again in several places and it still comes out at 50 but i guess i will have to work with what ive got.
the treads should be bigger than the risers so stairs are normally from just under 45 to around mid 30s http://www.stairsuk.co.uk/stair-regs.html does your mitre saw go to 50 degrees ??
Are you looking at the correct side of the protractor or whatever you are using as it could well be 40degrees from horizontal which would be 50degrees from vertical.
