I live in an old stone cottage circa 1840 but not listed or in a conservation area. A few years back a local firm replaced the awful (unoriginal) windows with wood effect UPVC - with accompanying FENSA certificate.
An elderly farmer neighbour who lets properties on his land has told me that 'you need planning permission with old properties' and they had to use wood not UPVC when they did the renovations. Not sure if he is getting mixed up with Building Regs or the fact that his properties were barn conversions - so a major change anyway.
Please can you advise what I should have as I am about to sell my house and need everything in order!
