Earlier this year we had most of the walls of my daughter's 1932 vintage house professionally re-plastered before emulsioning as they had been heavily wallpapered for years and the original plaster was uneven etc after removing the wallpaper.
We only waited a week or two before emulsioning, but it looked good.
All was OK until this last cold week, and we now notice that most of the walls are exhibiting fine crack lines running across the walls.
The shape of a covered kitchen hatch is also showing throught the wall between the lounge and kitchen.
Any ideas on what has gone wrong, and what is the cure?
I have one very upset daughter!

its perfectly normal for new plaster to show hairline cracks. the house will go through various stages of expansion and contraction during the differing seasons of the year. The new plaster is basically becoming acclimatised to the house hence the hairline cracks. They can be easily filled with a smooth ready mixed filler or decoraters caulking and then emulsioned over. If the walls have been rollered i would apply along the crack with a brush and then use a small emulsion roller just to go over it to hide the brush marks.
