Having just removed a 70's brick fire surround, by order, the wall is going to need replastering. There will be a woodburner quite close to this plastered surface. What type of plaster is most heat resistant and suitable for this? Would you build up with a cement render then skim on top of this? Brick work is pitted not a smooth surface. Its not far off 10mm to bring the surfaces level.
There is now an edge where the old plaster met the surround this edge is squareish to the brick work underneath, is this the best edge to plaster to or do plasterers prefer a tapered edge, which gives the best finish and is less likely to shrink/crack
