What should I use to stick plasterboard to a wall that used to be on the outside skin. The old plaster from around the 1980's came off very easily so maybe an adhesion issue to external brick faces. I have some knauf plasterboard adhesive, will this be OK or is there a better product or primer I can use to promote adhesion

I used bonding plaster once and did it the job. A mortar mix will be okay too.
