I have stripped my bathroom back to the brick in order to plasterboard. Plasterboard delivered today and also timber battens that I thought were 2 x1's. Turns out the battens are only 2 inch x 22mm. I know it's only 3mm difference but this will mean I will have to use 32mm screws and I have seen on various posts that 38mm screws should be used on 12.5mm plasterboard. The questiion I am asking is will I be ok with 32mm screws on the boards which will give 20mm penetration into the battens and if so should I use more than normal. Thanks.

try and pull just one of those screws out.

then imagine trying to pull a herd of 'em out.

32mm will be fine. just be sure they have bitten and pulled against the skin slightly.
