I have bought what must have been an Artexer’s house ! Artex everywhere. I am putting up new ceilings and insulated plaster board on external walls. I cant get a plaster’a to do the internal dividing walls so have decided to plaster board over them as well. I will tape and fill the joints etc as have done so in the past. My question is what is the best way to fix the plaster board to the walls. I don’t want to dot & dab as it takes up valuable room and will involve removing architrave and widening door linings etc. Im thinking of using 9.5 mm and glueing it to the existing surface which i will stabilise with pva. Is it ok to use 9.5 ? There will be very little gap. If any. Thanks

Does that mean you intend butting the PB against the architrave or am I not seeing it?
Thanks. Yes will but up to architrave which insnt ideal but I need to get a complete house liveable in little time
I had the same issue on a couple of door openings and fixed strips on the edge of the lining to extend their width. These now painted are much less noticeable than what you intend .

It’s liveable with Artex on the walls isn’t it? Our house was an artex palace when we moved in in 1990. We eventually had it all plastered over. Any reason for the rush?

I was talking to a guy today about 9.5mm over walls to cover artex.
I'd buy £10 metal foam gun from building section at B&Q. Board foam. And a few blobs of polymer mastic to grab as foam has no hold.
He dot and dabbed though.
. I've done it with 12.5mm but have to get over problem areas with 9.5mm but it's a bit bendy and not ideal.
Replacing door linings is not hard. I'd do it properly tbh

Im aware its a bit of a bodge. However I have to get the place rewired besides complete new heating & full plumbing to provide home for myself and son in a fee months. All external wall artex is being covered with insulated plaster board. This will also cover up the rewiring as well as pb will on some internal walls so makes sense to use it. Just looking for alternative fixing methods to dabbing it to keep it tight to the wall saving extra work with the doors I could go baxk and rectify at a later date if necessary
What's the plan with the skirting board and have you had the Artex tested for asbestos incase you need to knock any high spots off?

Skirting gone, coving down artex ok, high spots off. Auto feed screw gun purchases for ceilings along with a plaster board lifter which would have been £50 + vat week to hire but purchased for under £200. Its all being done properly. Just trying to save time
If you only pb up to the architraves the skirting will look odd not butting up to it. , If you want do it properly at a later date the pb will be short so would need new wider architrave to cover the edge or there will always be a crack showing.... make provision if possible for fixing radiators,etc
