Silly question, but can you plaster or smooth a painted, internal brick wall (ie. the back wall of an internal garage)?

Can painted brick-work be plastered directly on to? PVC glue prep coat?

Or some alternative to plaster to fill the pointing lines like Polyfill Smooth-Over, prior to skimming?

Build-up thickness is an issue, so would prefer not to have to dot-dab plaster board on and then skim...

Many thanks!

You can certainly coat with PVA glue -instuctions on the tub ;) - I`ve seen glass tiles skimmed ! the first coat will fill the pointing gaps - use Thistle Multi Finish

Plastering over brickwork you can PVA the wall first, then to get it a thicker layer you can use bonding plaster with some PVA mixed in. Finally skim coat with multi-finish.
