Hi,

I want to mount my speakers on the wall in the corners of my lounge.

For the best look, I thought I'd put a speaker wall plate and knock a strip out of the wall, put trunking in and therefore hide the cables.

My question is, how would I go about making the wall good afterwards? I've got to paint the walls in the next few weeks anyway but have never done any sort of plastering at all (which I guess is what i need to do).

Your advice is greatly anticipated!

I wouldn't bother with trunking for speaker cable personally, just chase a channel into the wall and bury the cable with filler or plaster. Rub filler down carefully and repaint.

I would imagine there's nearly as much work in the two.

As it's surround sound there's a few wires.

My concern is, having never done any plastering, that I won't be able to make the wall good afterwards.

Are there any DIY plastering products that I can use for this job?

i did the same with the wires runing up my walls then plastering over the gouge in the wall i took out to run the wire. The way i did it was gouge the plater with a screwdriver as that ius about the thickness youd want. lay the wire uo the length of the gouge and bned a tack over the wire under the exisiting plaster so as to hold the wire in place, but not to be noticed when you replaster. After that i just bought some polyfiller powder and made that up to use as plaster to refil the area. If it is a bit rough you can sand it down, it is very effective and worth doing

nah your best buying the stuff to mix yourself, a lott easier and cheaper

cut a neat chase and follow an unobstrusive route, ie not the middle of the wall. Use either wickes tape and jointing filler or gyproc filler. Its designed for taping and jointing of plasterboard and can be sanded extremly smooth. Fill it slightly proud and then be patient and sand it to get it smooth. Use a 120 grit paper. refill any holes and then paint. Good job, wont show, bad, rushed job will show and drive you mad for years to come
