plastering/skimming

I've got a wide hole in plaster (1.5m by 1/2m) that I have filled ok. However, now comes the tricky part...skimming to get flat and smooth with rest of wall. Any tips for this would be appreciated.

pva 5-1 around where your gonna skim this will help to blend the skim in.

Filler......... Thistle bonding coat, seems fine?
