Hi, I have a small question, I am boarding a firends barhtroom this evening and then skimming it tomorrow, but at the top of the wall it meets the apex of the roof line (about 45º). Whats the best way of filling the gap created by the board and the ceiling? should I create an angle at the top of the board? should I tape between the 2?? I'm not sure!

Can anyone help me?

if you mean where horizontal ceiling meets the rake of the roof, then a good plasterer will tape the join and "roll" the plaster in creating a curve instead of an angle.

Great, could u describe how u would "Roll" into the joint to create a curve??

Well, I fixed some bits of plasterboard with long screws and pugged in a bit of bonding (cuz I had some spare)..let it dry . coated with unibond to reduce the suction and then my son skimmed it ...lovely radiused roll to it about the size of a dinner plate ;)

build the plaster up slowly in say 2 or 3 coats.

let the top coat firm up then trowel flat, working in the direction of the curve.

take care not to drag too much plaster off and take care not to catch the trowel.

or do it as nige f says. ;)

Do it with a bucket of stiffish bonding, add three good large gaugeing trowells of hydrated lime to the mix, dubb it out firstly then lay it over to get the curve, will trowell up within half an hour and be skimmable after an hour, because of the lime reacting with the bonding. Gives no problems with blebbing (blistering) or too dry bonding.
I will have finished the whole job and be home eating my spuds before the above are even knocking up their first gauge of multi finish

Alternatively leave the 45 angle in. Curves are so last season.

Thanx for the tip, legs ;) I`ll mail you a bag o` kin`edwards

yeah...... great tip..... mmm..... hydrated lime.

ive always had trouble with the bonding "bibbling" when skimmed onto too soon.

i'll be on the golf course even earlier tomorrow. ;)

good t' see ya' legs. :D
