can any one help sometimes when i use finishing plaster i get tiny air pockets that i cant get out, is it because pva is too strong or weak or not mixed plaster enough ?
sometimes, if a backing coat or float coat of bonding or browning hasn't had enough time to go off (set) then due to the water trapped in the plaster and the lack of suction, this can cause "bubbling". usually a good grind with the trowel, just as the skim is setting gets rid of this.
Leave your skim coat longer before going back to trowel it flat. There is a certain stage when the skim is just going off when it is 'spongey' and the more you mess with it the worse it gets. Leave the skim coat about twice as long and then go back to it.
