I have a small kitchen (2.0m x 3.9m) with a low (2.1m) ceiling.

I am going to have a new kitchen fitted and plan to do a lot of the prep work myself. The current ceiling is plasterboard and is badly marked and as I want the spot light in new positions I need to replace it.

I wondered if there is any suitable plastic material that I could use as it would never need to be painted and would be easy to clean.

My worry is that it might get lots of condensation on it as we cook. The kitchen is in an extension and I could lay fiberglass insulation over the ceiling joists before putting the ceiling up.

Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions are very welcome.

1 suggestion... fire risk.

Think I'd be inclined to stick with plasterboard and skim.

As for condensation, a good extractor should help keep this at bay.

I have found some that has a very low spread of fire rating but thanks for the warning.

Even if you use put insulation above the plastic, it'll still be cold before the room warms up, so Mr Chibs is right - use plasterboard, and a good extractor for good practice.
