Hi

I am wiring a new garage and have a shed load of conduit ti fit, I have seen in other places that you can bend the conduit to go over other pipes etc. can anyone tell me the best way of bending plastic conduit without it distorting?

Cheers
Matt

You can use a pipe spring .
Bend to produce two double offsets, cut to suit the pipes to be breached. then join using a straight coupler.
You must install the conduit before drawing in any cable, then use the formula in Onsite guide to see how many cables in the size of conduit you have.
A conduit must only be 40% occupied by cables (ie 60% empty) to allow cooling

I read this somewhere else the other day as well. What's the reasoning behind it?

My guess is it could be something to do with the solvent glue reacting with the cables amongst other things.

The real reason is that if you draw the cables before you put up the conduit, how do you know that you can redraw them at some future date? (ie when the conduit is fixed up)
SB

Dont forget the max of 180deg between inspection bends/circ boxes........infact FORGET INSPECTION BENDS - they are ****e! Use circ boxes throughout!

180 deg could be 2 x 90 bends, 1 x 90 and 2 x 45 sets. etc etc.

Also, fit expansion couplers on long runs of straight conduit.

Use the spacing table in the OSG for saddles, and add a few more...the OSG is FAR TOO lenient (spelling? Drunk!).
