Hello,

I have a vertical dark grey plastic pipe coming up from the water mains, about 1 metre up there is a T piece which sends a branch out about 50mm into an adaptor which goes from the plastic pipe to a copper thread (eventually into a toilet cistern via some speedfit gubbins)

This adapter (glued onto the plastic pipe) has a tiny leak in it where it hasn’t been properly bonded onto the pipe, it sends a drip out every 10 secs or so.

I don’t want to have to hack this off and replace it as it’s a tight spot and I haven’t really got much pipe to play with, so was hoping to repair it.

Now the ideal thing would be like a cuff of say 3 mill thick, 2 semi-circles, which I could lather in solvent and weld it onto the back end of the adapter – wishful thinking on my part probably – so, failing this, is there any other option open to me save:

1) hacking it off and start again.

2) squirt a tennis ball sized lump of sealant onto it and hope it holds until I move out of the house?

Many thanks,

Rad

* Edit - its probably PVC or maybe ABS and not PE

To save yourself lots of grief and hard work, hack it off and start again, or better still, redo the pipework from further along the pipe.[/quote]
