My new motorbike is in my garage, 40 ft away from my house. Unfortunately the garage has no electricity.

I'm after a device to warn me should anyone get into the garage, so some sensor or pir in the garage with a warning that I can have in the house.oSmething like this although the unit would be inside the garage with the receiver in the house.

Any recommendations please.
Thank you

Hi, I wouldn’t trust the quoted range of that wireless one in your link, and would be very wary of other quoted distances especially if solid objects like brick walls are in the way. You obviously want to be reliably alerted if there’s ever a problem and wireless over that distance (and not knowing what’s in the way) will be dubious. Can you run a cable? It’d need just to be multi-core phone cable or CAT5, and then you could hard wire a PIR and door contacts to a cheap-ish basic alarm unit within your house.

Thanks for your reply dave_104 but unfortunately I can't run a cable. The ground between my house and the garage is covered by brick pavier.

Ahhh that’s a shame, I guess if there’s absolutely no way of getting a cable there then you’ll be stuck with wifi. To me the one you found looks a bit too cheap and wouldn’t give me confidence. Perhaps as an alternate to the one you found what about this one - https://www.ultrasecuredirect.com/w...p1167.html#/50-sim_card-no_sim_card_thank_you
Reviewed on amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/New-UltraP...2SU4/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1
(I’d buy from the supplier as I feel you’d get better support than from Amazon and the price is the same). I’m sure you will need a sim chip if you want the SMS function though.

Actually apologies have just realised that one has the siren combined with the detector so you might want to see if they have an alternate model where the siren could be in your house.

Thank you dave_104 I really appreciate you taking the time to help me with this
This looks super and I'll check out the reviews and more likely buy one.
