The irony is that if it wasn't such an unpleasant place to "visit", then more regulars would partake including those who moderate and it would be kept tidier as a matter of course.
As it is, it lacks humour or much bonhommie, and the concept of actually having a discussion is laughable. I'm not claiming to be perfect of some kind of ideal role model, but this lot take the biscuit

I disagree... you want the mods and admin to act like strict law enforcers in a forum which allows anyone in the world to join? They'd need a rule book bigger than the Oxford Eng Dictionary, and an army of scrutineers to go through every post, and a bank of legal advisors on 24hr alert.
Truth is GD goes in cycles, this current incarnation will burn itself out.... and a few will get bored (like me) and new joiners will change the focus... Admin knows this, and just tries to keep the lid on..... IMO !!

Point taken, and I know it goes in cycles. But it seems to have been running for a long time now with some of the key players being relentless.

i agree that if admin wanted to change the nature of the place, they could clamp down on a number of individuals who tend to "go at it" more than others.... but admin isn't there to make our lives better.... they offer a forum, that's all. Forum evolution rules.... and in 6 months there might a different troublesome crowd on on here?
I'm bored with feeding the trolls, i just read posts these days, and chip in occasionally. But i have to say, the rest of the forums are worth their weight in gold !!

The moderators cannot and likely will not read every post.
If there is something that you feel is contrary to the forum rules that everyone that joins the forum is bound to follow then report the post.
Then the moderators will investigate and make their own mind up what action to take.

Thanks mod. I suspect that you are one of the few that frequent GD on a reasonably regular basis and are aware of how crazy it's been for a few weeks now.

Can I also add that you don't even need to be logged in to use the "Alert Mod" function. Guests can use the function also.

I couldn't agree more.... i'm on one particular mod's blacklist and when they're 'on duty' i can get absolutely everything deleted... and then a couple of days later a similar post stays !!
And if anyone finds out you've hit 'alert mods' you're labelled a grass...
