Plinth “skirting” replacement

The plinth around the base of our 1930’s semi has blown.
Finally got round to taking it off, as I suspected the wall was damp. The previous owners had damp treatment done but didn’t fix the plinth.
The inside has been replastered but occasionally there a smell.
Under the plinth was a little damp around the old air blocks but looks like it will be fine.
My query is what is the best replacement? It does have to be replaced as it’s not all red brick underneath. Should we use a bell cast?
