The dishwasher and washing machine are plumbed in as above - the washing machine outflow is just visible at the back. When either pumps out the sink plughole makes an annoying squelching noise. How can I rearrange the pipework to stop this happening?

Cheers!

well for a start the grey one is wrongly positioned so that dirty water from the sink will flow down into the appliance. You need to loop up the flexible hoses so that they are up to the underside of the draining board and above the water level of the sink.

But you could change to a standpipe drain if you have room.

The grey one loops up out of picture to the left. I thought they only need to loop up above the pipe to the drain so the water takes the path of least resistance?

Cheers
