Hi

Just over boarding my floor with 12mm ply to level it out. It’s going on top of old floorboards that make up a suspended floor. I only seem to find threads on much thinner ply. But is the spacing of screws really 200mm? It’s a 14m2 area but it just feels a bit excessive…

The floorboards were lifted and insulated then screwed back down and that was 2 in each joist per board so I got through 450 odd for that. It’s got 3mm foam underlay and 12mm laminate going over the top of it.

Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I'd probably do 300mm offset fixings. I.e. stagger each line of fixings.
Are you confident of not hitting any pipes or cables?

Yeah it’s all fine underneath. Screwing into the floorboards and won’t really go past them plus no cables or pipes sitting just under the boards.

Thanks for the tip. Offset makes sense.
