Probably pointed by a 5 year looking at the state of it, this is the front of our bungalow.

Other than brick acid I don't know how to get this off of the bricks, it is rather hard, any pointers "excuse the pun" would help please??

Thank you.

Eew, my eyes.

Brick acid and a lot of care, as it will weaken the rest of the mortar.

Also too much heavy scrubbing will take the face off the bricks.

If grinding out the joints is difficult with the hard mortar, then consider a specialist brick toning firm to tone it all down to remove the contrast.

The extreme excess should chip off with a hammer and bolster. Carefully run along the edges of the bricks with a slight angle, and then see what's left?

The problem you have is that the brickwork is a bit rough, and even if you get it cleaned up big bed joints like that aren't best suited to a half round joint in a contrasting mortar colour. I've achieved a better looking result in the past using a toned down colour in a weather struck and cut style.
If you acid clean, soak the wall first.
