We are due to insulate our concrete slab base in kitchen, hallway and some other rooms with 95mm insulation prior to laying UFH pipes and topping it up with 65mm of screed. As a floor finish we would like to have wooden flooring in some of the screeded rooms, yet would like to have polished concrete flooring in kitchen, hallway and bathroom.
Bearing in mind that the floor level in the wooden-floor rooms and the polished concrete rooms needs to be the same - what are our options? I understand we cannot polish screed, but at the same time if we lay a thin layer of concrete on top of the screed in level with the wooden flooring in other rooms - it will be too thin and crack.. yet, at the same time, I believe if we replace screed in the kitchen etc with a layer of concrete that equates to 65mm+wooden floor thickness - it may not work as well with UFH?...
Kind of lost for answers. Any advice on the subject will be much appreciated!
