Polo running bad

Hi all,

my daughter has a VW polo...S -Reg... which has been fitted with a recon/replacement engine...

She has a problem with fuel consumption being very high and its a bit noisy like the exhaust is blowing but I have checked the exhaust and all seems well.

The garage cant find why its running a bit rough and using so much petrol...they did some checks on it and told her to bring it back in sometime..

I know at the moment I`m a bit vague with the details but I will post again if you need any more symptoms..

Has it been doing it since the new engine?
Might just need the ECU resetting. Have any fault codes read, have the codes cleared and the ECU reset to basic mode, drive it for a hundred miles or so and take it back to see if any new fault codes have popped up.
