poly tiles on ceiling

so removed poly tiles from my ceiling and was planning to use polycell smoothover ,they should call it done-over for £32 i feel i was, as its rubbish
got a refund on this .so scraped off all the loose paint etc from ceiling and got some artex ,the first sq yard went on great but when i got to a point where there was still some paint left on the ceiling as i rolled it on it just pulled off the paint .so im planinig to get some textured paint to do the job i have a few hairline cracks etc

I use a four inch brush to apply artex only ever need a roller when trying to get a certain pattern (usually on a wall).

You should also seal a ceiling before application. Once dry needs a mist coat.
