cant rem whats its called....but you will never get rid off it..it does no harm..but it grooooows + grooows

thats duckweed.

only 2 ways to get rid of it

1) empty pond and take it out leaf by leaf

2) over fill pond and let it float away

option 1 is impractibable

option 2 is dasngerous for the koi, since you will be using tap water, but its the easiest, and watch ph / amonia levels of water

breezer...just 1 piece will cling to a plant + you are back at square 1

Looks like some form of duckweed, but it seems yellower than I remember.
It will completely cover your pond if it is.
Clear it on a regular basis to control it.

Beaten to it..............

i know that, thats why you should do option 1, but option 2 is easier

you can't twirl it out on a twig?
You're thinking of blanketweed, which grows on the sides in direct sunlight.

This stuff looks like individual little buds floating on the surface. Regular Sweep over with a net would keep numbers down.

maybe that high-velocity tortoise will eat it.

I've still got it - could arrange to send it over.

I have this duckweed in my small pond. Its harmless and gives shade to the fish. You never get rid of it completely but just skim it off with a net every now and then. The birds bring it in from other ponds so it a lost cause so to speak. I think it looks quite attractive if controlled.
