Hi all,

hoping you can help.

We’ve recently had our hallway and landing plastered. Paid going rate (had a few quotes) but the finish is not what we were expecting. It’s rough in places and I’m worried about the finished look once we paint.

should we mist coat and then sand bits? Or sand bits and then mist? Help!

thanks
Lydia

Normally mist coat then sand and fill any blemishes, but in your case I would either get him back to finish it properly or be prepared to do a lot of sanding, filling, and scraping before touching it with paint.
Some folk don't take pride in their work...quite depressing.

Thank you for your help!

we have also found that when we run our hand across the walls he’s done, a fine white dust appears. None are external walls so don’t think it’s damp. All feels quite chaulky - very different to our master bedroom (which does have external walls) done by a different guy.

Any advice? Is this normal / just a different type of plaster used? Image attached of hand after running across his wall. Was done about five weeks ago and all looks dry.
