Pop-up basin waste

This is a trivial problem , but annoying none the less. We have a 6 month old pop-up basin waste in our bathroom. It's the one that you push to close and push to open again. It seems to be 'sagging' slightly which means that it doesn't drain as quickly as it used to. I can't seem to get into it to have a look at it. Does anybody know how to get them to bits?

You can also try adjusting it from underneath the basin. You will see a chrome rod attached to another one with a small fitting. Undo this and slide up or down until you get correct operation :)

Thanks for the replies fella's. Just to clarify the plug isn't one of those with the screw underneath that adjusts the height of the plug. I know the type you mean as we have one of those on the bath. It also isn't the type that has the rod that comes up through the head of the mixer tap. The plug says push on the top like this one:
