Yesterday as I slammed my boot shut there was a loud popping noise and the external bar of my pop up sun roof came flying out. It looks as though a rod in the latch mechanism has snapped, but I can find no trace of it. All i had at hand was a tent peg, which I was going to use to replace the rod, but when I inserted the peg and began to push the latch back up to close the sun roof I was worried that the tension might shatter the glass.
Any ideas what could have caused this and how I can fix it?
