Popping screw heads

Recently had the shell completed on my loft conversion, and we are now at the stage of starting the insulation.

BR under old rules said 100mm pir between studs and 25mm over the face (though we may use 50mm as per new regs).

Builder has suggested that this way will definitely cause the screw heads to pop through the skim coat, and has suggested using multifoil over the face so that the boards are screwed to the counter battens.

Is this a genuine concern, or a load of ol cobblers?

I used insulated plasterboard on my loft , no cross batten required , no screws popped.

Think you need to follow building inspector advice.
What was agreed. Don't switch insulation without confirmation.

As for screw popping we have multifoil and a few pop heads..
It's on my list to sort this year

I don't know if @Wayners will agree, but
if you use the search box to look for multifoil on here, there has been much debate about the efficacy of it.
If it is installed perfectly, it may live up to expectations.
If you don't have any space limitations, PiR may be easier to get right.

I had a chat with the BI last week, he was very helpful, and he said we could use multifoil if we wanted.

I fitted multifoil in in 2007.
Been fine.
It was the cheaper option at the time.
