Hi was supposed to be getting a porcelain patio layed last Monday, waited nearly 3 months, to be fitted in, tradesmen tells me on Sunday isn't doing it, can't rely on labour and taking his business in a different direction,
Previously someone started said job, type one was already layed, I had all materials paving, sharp sand, etc he never returned, I know your thinking already it's me that's the problem lol, have to laugh or I'll cry.
So I get on the phone manage to get a tradesmen, his reviews look good no complaints from anyone, comes round we talk out the job, however he doesn't like my sharp sand, 2 1/2 bulk bags WTF, will only use builders sand, so meeting ends fine, i receive the quote, price + Vat, don't get the vat part at all surely a set price is a set price, and vat added accordingly, if you buy anything online you add the vat, or it's added before you commit surely that's fair.
So I'm no expert or I'd being doing it myself right, however no matter how many sites I go on it's all sharp sand cement 4:1 mix or 5:1 etc favoured by tradesmen, am I wrong, the sand
obviously adds a little more to the price, though not really the reason I'm here, just looking for second opinions, advice etc, does he just have his way of doing things, I know builders sand cement mix will be more maluable easier to work with, however will it last?
