Porch Problems

Hi,

I have a porch on the front of my house that I wish to decorate, including plastering the walls.

Problem is, the bricks are single thickness and I don't think there's any damp proofing. Is this a problem if I'm going to get plasterboards dot and dabbed onto the brick walls?

Have you noticed any damp on the bricks before?
And do you not know where the damp coarse is or just can't see it?

The bricks don't appear to be damp at all to the touch.

I can't see the damp course at all so I was guessing that there wasn't any. I thought I would have seen some kind of layer a few bricks up like in houses but no, can't see anything.

What should I be looking for?

If its single skim you've got to tank it.

Tanking is to seal the wall.

No problem. I would suggest Batten and board method rather than dot and dab if you haven't done it before. It gets made easy by the pro's
