If we wanted to be pedantic, the action of a fuse doing it's protection job is likely to do it in at one of 2 ways:Probably no more silly than suggesting that fuses 'rupture' - which, as I said, could be dangerous (and hopefully rarely happens).
At a marginal overload of a fuse wire with a relatively low current there will not be much of a flash or bang as it overheats and eventually melts.
