Hi there

I am redoing bathroom at the moment and the phote shows 2 steps leading up to the bathroom. I want to put plywood on bathroom floor before thick vinyl.
My wife thinks it would be a potential trip hazard raising the floor and is worried about someone falling down stairs either going out or in.

I could could put an oak transition strip but still not sure it's safe.

Any suggestions how to deal with this?

Many thanks

Steps are expected to be equal.
Ply under vinyl is only a few mm.
I’d use some kind of transition strip or if you’re keeping the step and floor as bare wood you might be able to cut the existing threshold out and shim it up.
It’s not easy to see what’s going on threshold wise

The company I buy vinyl from recommended plywood around 5-6 mm.
The current threshold is actually just an extension of the exsisting bathroom floor so same height.

I did think of a transition strip but a bit worried someone would fall. The stairs are in an awkward place

Run the vinyl to the front of the step and fit it into a Staittods Premier Full Bull nosing?

It may be a camera angle artefact, but the two risers look nowhere near the same height

Whether they are or not, I'd be more worried about having any step just outside a door like that than having unequal heights - it's only 2, you're not going to get a rhythm going.

As long as the bathroom floor ends up level to the edge of the bullnose, all should be well.

Might be worthwhile fitting one of those grab rails you see outside doors so that it's always there to grab hold of when going down.

When you add the plywood to it, try and shape the edge so that it's a smooth transition and not something someone can trip on.
I can trip on a 2mm lip so complete smoothness is imho best. :)
