by overide do you mean the reset ?
is the boiler noisy b4 it shuts off ?

Ask Christopher Robin to have a look. He always struck me as being a bit clued up :D

ok

hot water works with or without central heating timer controls swiched on

no heat is reaching any of the radiators

when i switch timer or timer overide .. initially pilot light ignites main boiler for between 30 secs and 2 mins

experimented setting heating to on.. while hot water running ..still no heat to radiators

allowed house to get cold while CH switched on ( wish i hadnt ! )
eventually ( it took a while ) pilot light ignited boiler - for 30 secs or so

as i have a profoundly disabled kiddie in the house looks like im going to have to track down an "expert" double quick due to the risks involved
but my phoning around previous contacts today has drawn a blank so far - still hoping for return calls from half a dozen answer phones

in the meantime i was just checking that i wasnt overlooking somthing obvious and hoping to get a rough idea of what sort of damage (both physically and monitary ) i should be gearing up for ??

have had pressure problems over the few years i have had system

particularly needs manually topping up in cold weather

experienced horrendous banging noise two weeks ago after said action - did check not too much pressure first!! - but has caused no problem with subsequent operation

system came on via timer this morning - manually switch off

no unusual noises during its early operation and subsequent inactivity

has had pcb and 2 valves replaced over the past 3 years - always 2 weeks before christmas-- - i must have really pi****d off santa in a former life !
:(

thanks to kevplum for possible wise words

interesting how one thing leads to another

after the advice i typed in potterton puma diverter valve in google for price hints - instead i got to a forum which included the following exchange

Hot water running OK. When heating comes on boiler only on for about 20 seconds then boiler shuts down. Each time i relight the boiler the same thing happens. engineer fitted new diverter valve but boiler no different. Can anyone help please.

had same problem on a call out after reading a forum i cleaned the pilot injector and i never got called back and its a regular customer so she would have phoned if there was a problem pilot goes too small and gets blown away from the thermocouple in heating mode hope it works regards kev kmj plumbing and heating

well as i forgot to mention ( dont say it!!!) that ive also had the pilot light going out on me at least once a week for the past month and tricky restarting perhaps that is another line of investigation

do you agree?
