potterton ep2001

I have a potterton ep2001 programmer and over the last couple of months the boiler keeps firing when the programming times have ended, I then set the C/H & H/W to off and still the boiler fires up.

Can anyone help please.

The programmer is almost definately not the fault,but more likely to be a zone valve end switch fault.Can easily be diagnosed with the use of a multimeter and carefull access to the wiring centre.If you are not confident then call an engineer.If you have 2 zone valves then depending on type the heads can be changed.If the valve spindle is siezed then change the whole valve.Cost about £60 per valve+labour

Thank you for the advice, but being a novice are the zone valves situated by the hot water tank.
