Potterton Flamingo 40 with really noisy motor + no HW or CH

HELP! Boiler hasn't been used for a week as new bathroom fitted. Builder said when he turned heating/hot water on at main switch board boiler didn't kick in and there is a loud grinding/whining sounds coming from motor next to hot water tank! We've had a look and unfortunately it keeps happening when we try to turn either of them on! It was fine a week ago but since then the bathroom radiator etc has been changed.
Any ideas would be gratefully received[/list]

Sounds like the pump. Either full of crud that has been dislodged whilst the system was being drained/refilled or there is no water in the system and it's running dry!
