Hello,
For months now my boiler has been having trouble clicking on/off with the thermostat. Read somewhere it might be a PCB problem.. also read there are cheaper things to replace first, like the thermistor or the potentiometer.

click...click...click..(15-45 seconds of this)..click...click... off.

That type of thing.

But since it was only an irritation I left it. Who cares about a few clicks now & then?

But now the last couple of days the boiler and all pipes have started banging, loudly, seems like all over the house. Then the loft space was full of steam.

My guess is the problems might be related? If the thermostat can't turn the boiler off, it keeps heating and overheats the system?

What to do?
Had a couple of engineers out a few months back because the CH pump needed replacing, they heard the clicking but didn't say anything truly helpful. They didn't agree either.

Any help appreciated, of course.

From what you have said its difficult to guess but could be either the boiler failing to recognise the flow temperature and control the boiler.

Have you fiddled with the NTC ?

Its rare but the gas valve could be sticking on.
