Having problems with my Dads boiler, and dont want him to be cold for the winter.
Basically when you switch the boiler on the water heating light comes on, the boiler then ignites(flame, demand and water heating are lit).Yet there are no taps on and the heating buttons are in the off position. Then after about 30 seconds all the lights go out. Then it trys to ignite itself again. The water heating light comes on as well as the demand and you can here it trying to ignite. After about 15 seconds it goes to the red reset light which I presume is a safety feature. When you push the reset button the whole sequence starts again. We have had one professional look at it who said it was dead and we needed a new boiler, but as my Dad is 74 I think he is a soft target for the rogue trader and we just wanted a second opinion. Any ideas? I suspect we will have to get a professional out, but would like an idea of what we might expect.
