Potterton Performa 24 banging noise

Hi, I have a Potterton Performa 24 that seems to be running fine apart from when the CH is on after a while the boiler makes a banging sound about every 30 secs for a bit then its fine. It doesn't seem to do it when the burner is on, only when the pump runs. DHW does not cause the same problem.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

From googling I think it could be to do with flow or kettling but I'm not quite sure.

Incidentally it had a inspection / service a week ago and nothing came up.

btw its around 8 years old.

Noises like that are notoriously difficult to diagnose over the interweb.
It could well be a heat/flow problem when on CH. There may well be a filter in the return manifold on this boiler. Call your man back to check it out.
