Hi,

My potterton boiler has just gone on the blink and I was wondering if anyone could help.

It was installed about a year ago and was operating perfectly until a couple of days ago when some work was done on the electrics in a seperate part of the house. Basically, the power is being supplied as normally (its wall socket has power) but the power light on the appliance is dead as are all the other controls.

Could it be a problem that would be remedied by a manual reset (internally maybe?) or should I just get someone in instead.

Many thanks.

have you tried plugging something else in the socket that supplies the boiler? have you checked the fuse in the plug?

it's not a normal socket, it's a plugless one with the boiler's wire going directly into it. There is a red light on the socket though which presumeably means that there is current and the fuse is ok?

if it resembles

then it is a SPUR, not a socket.

you also said it was working untill you had some electrical work done elsewhere in the house, ask them to come back and check the spur, sounds like a loose wire

Just because the red light is on dosen't mean the fuse is ok.

Get them to come back.

Thanks for your comments ..... I've just had it checked and the current is definatly on in that circuit.
