My boiler has recently started shutting down after running for only a minute or so then restarting after less than a minute. It does this continuously when heating hot water or rads. The pilot goes out then re-lights itself.
The system pump is running as normal, and the boiler heats rads and hot water, it just doesn't run all the time.
I removed the airbox door and found water lying inside the bottom of the airbox. The condensate trap has a lot of sludge in the right hand side (now drained) and signs of water staining from the top connection. Initially I thought that this connection might be the source of the water but I have seen that there is water dripping off the bottom of the combustion box, possibly it is running down the back.
The problem started when we had snow and cold temperatures but this may be coincidence. The condensate drain is not frozen, I can blow down the pipe.
The photo shows the location of the drips.
I'm hoping someone can reassure me I don't need a new heat exchanger !
Many thanks for all replies.
Update - sorry, can't work out how to include an image !
