Hi Folks,

We have recently had expansion vessel fitted to get over pressure loss problems, and heating working absolutely fine.

However, whilst the hot water is running perfectly when the burner is on, there is nowt (apart from the first dribble) available when the boiler is off.

Puzzling. And I cant seem to find an answer for this particular problem.

I would have imagined that the blender valve must be working ok to deliver the heated water that is available when the boiler is on, - it just seems that nothing is going into the heatstore, if I'm correct.
Is there a bypass valve or gate valve that I need to turn to activate the heat store side of the system??

I would be very grateful for any hints/tips or help.
As per usual, I'm not looking to deny an engineer his daily bread, but it seems (in my head) to be such a trivial problem that could be solved, or am i completely wrong?

Cheers in advance,
Von Hinton

im amazed you have a range powermax in herts that hasnt yet scaled up and died !
I am a bit confused about your problem, does the boiler fire up at all when the heatings not on?

are you turning the boiler off and then opening a tap ? as said your post is a bit unclear.

Your problem is likely to be the DHW flowswitch. The hot water pump runs when charging the store to stir the water - hence hot water avilable when heating is on. It also runs when the flowswicth activates (or not).

Parts arena shows two possible part numbers P746 and P3246. When fitting make sure the orientation is correct. The wire should be at the bottom.

Thanks for your replies folks, sorry for delay in responding - computer issues now!! Anyway, to hopefully clarify - I only get hot water when my heating is on. The boiler does not operate if the heating is off as a result of opening a tap.thanks for all your help!

Aha! Thanks mate, that sounds entirely plausible - will see to it, and fingers crossed that'll do the trick! Cheers
