Potterton Suprima 100 with a hole?????

Just a bit of help, Please!!!!!

Hi, just managed to fix my Suprima 100 (4-5yrs old), it wasn't lighting, and was locking out. Could hear that the spark was quite muffled, so decided to have a look at the electrode thing before i I called someone out. Anyway cleaned up the electrode and it is now sorted and even lights first time all the time now, BUT I found a hole in the back of the combustion chamber thing. The insulation had fallen of the back of the chamber was covering the burner. It basically fell a part when I tried to move it. What I need to know, is is it safe to use the boiler, and how much is it gonna cost to fix. Also, can anyone tell me from the pics if the damage has been caused by someone dropping the thing, cos that is what it looks like to me. Am gonna add some links to some pics i took cos I had no idea how to describe it.

The insulation is there to stop the case of the boiler overheating. It will need replacing.

Thanks gstens baxi. I guessing from your post that the crack/hole is relatively harmless and I just need to get the insulation fixed, or am i reading too much into it.

looks to me like your heat ex changer is leaking from the drain plug as well

Just read the servie manual, looks like i will have call an engineer out to get it fixed, I can open the cover etc. but i dont fancy removing the burner to change the insulation (according to the service manual).

p.s is the leak the reason why i have to keep topping up the expansion tank every few months

Just looked @ pics you have the mk2 pcb fitted which will nees changing also it looks like a water leak has caused damage get a new blr asap & don't swich old blr on for safety despite how cold it will get

You need a new Combustion Chamber Sub Assembly. Amazingly only £20 (with the insulation panels) or so but a pickle to fit.

Shouldn't be hard to stop the drain plug leaking, and you might as well wait until the pcb fails before replacing it.

Thanks for your help guys. Am gonna get it serviced and sorted asap. Glad its not gonna cost a crazy amount to fix.
Don't really know much about boilers etc. So how often should they be serviced etc. Yearly???
