We have an infamous Potterton Suprima 40 with a hot water tank. The water pressure kept dropping, causing the boiler to cut out. We've cured this by filling up the water pressure tank to 2-3 bar. Now, water is constantly dripping out of the top of the water pressure tank along the overflow pipe and down the front of our building. I've tried reducing the water pressure (to just below 2 bar) but this hasn't worked.

Does anyone have any idea of what may be causing the dripping? Is it just a faulty valve on top of the water pressure tank or could it be indicative of a different problem? (Our pump makes a slight whirring/grinding noise and I wondered if this might have something to do with things.) Your help is appreciated.

Get a heating engineer to look at the installation. Do not block any pipes that are dripping- there may well be a perfectly good reason why the pipes is dripping.
