Thanks to the info on the forum here I now have heat again!
Having already had the pcb on my potterton 50 replaced with the modified type about 18 months ago, it started acting up again about 4 to 6 months ago, by new year it was virtually unusable. A quick search of the net turned up this forum and the news that the solder joints were possibly bad.
A quick check with the magnifing glass revealed many bad joints, about 25 to 30 in total. A quick de-solder (just to be sure) followed by fresh solder and yipee! Heat again!!
Its been running fine for nearly a fortnight now so I'm happy to say its fixed.
Thanks to the knowledge on the forum guys, you've saved me a pretty penny
