I was looking for some spares for my Potterton Suprima (Std, not HE) boiler and noticed that the usual merchants are now listing common service parts such as gaskets and seals as "obsolete "

This boiler was fitted in 2003, so has been working away for the last 20 years although it's a philosophical question as to wether the boiler that was installed is the one that now exists as nearly everything except the cast iron HE-EX has been replaced.

How long has it got left before it's antique?
eBay sellers still offer 3rd party bits and bobs but genuine parts must now be thining out?

I plan to keep it until the arse falls out of it or its no longer safe to use .

How long do manufacturers support boilers?

How long should they?

I'll be sad to see it go when it does. Newer tech seems awfully short lived by all accounts.

These are very simple non condensing boilers and so quite reliable.

But with a cast iron heat exchanger they are not very efficient.

The only common faults are for the fan to wear out or just need lubricating.

And for the PCB to fail as they put it beside the combustion chamber which gets hot.

They probably stopped making it about 2005 as from that date all boilers being fitted needed to be condensing.
