Hi,

I have a Suprima that has served us well for 20+ years. It recently developed a fault where it would end up in a constant restart loop. Still worked just enough to provide hot water/CH.

Had engineer out who diagnosed the problem as a corroded flue pipe and has performed a temporary fix and states it's either a new flue or a new boiler at £3k.

So my question is - with the boiler being so old, are flues even still available and if so, is it worth replacing and how much more life is this likely to provide us with?

Secondly, does 3k sound like a reasonable price (3 bed semi) with 8 rads and 1 bathroom?

Cheers

I like the Suprima despite the PCB problems in its earlier days. However, given its age and rotted flue, I wouldn't chuck any more money at it. Too many variables to give a definite idea of price but 3k doesn't seem too far off the mark. Get alternative quotes and see how they stack up. Remember, cheapest is not always best.

Thanks so much. Seems like a sensible idea to go with a new boiler!
